In Praise of Grade One Poetry

First grade teachers Hallie Cohn and Julianne Rowland are pleased to report that their first-ever “publishers party” was a smashing success: “We held our party on the morning of May 4, with the boys’ families as our guests, to commemorate the conclusion of our poetry writing unit. The boys wrote different kinds of poems, including acrostic, autobiographical and cinquain, as well as a color poem and a spring haiku. To cap off our celebration, the boys presented their our own first grade acrostic poem to their proud parents! A great time was had by all!”
