2016 Fall Wrap-up
Athletics Director Andrew West '92 provides an overview of the fall athletics season, followed by reports from individual coaches:
The season started in late August when Browning held it annual fall preseason training at Camp Mah-Kee-Nak in Lenox, Mass. The boys set a new record for numbers in attendance with 61 boys ranging from Forms I through VI. The group included many returning seniors who were able to keep the teams determined and focused from the start. The major question mark for the varsity soccer team was who would be the goalkeeper, but that was quickly answered at camp when Alex Liptak rose to the occasion! The 7/8 Panthers, under the guidance of Coaches Brown and Protheroe, got lots of work in and, once back in New York, started fast out of the gate in the regular season. The varsity cross country team trained very hard, taking long runs and beautiful hikes. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful camp and had lots of fun, whether swimming in the pool or relaxing with friends.
Congratulations to all the Browning sports teams on a great season!
Browning boys George Allen ’17 and Joshua Jordan ’17 were selected as NYCAL All League Soccer Players this season. Coaches from all the varsity soccer teams rank the players in the league, and the top 11 make the All League team. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own players. Well done, boys!
